Hi there, I'm Trent!

I'm originally from the Akron, Ohio area and moved to Columbus for school where I studied TV and film (and met my wife!).  We live in Dublin with our two wonderful daughters.

I've been lucky enough to film hundreds of weddings throughout the state of Ohio; honing my craft while at the same time meeting so many awesome people along the way.

As for what to expect on your wedding day - I do all my own shooting and editing; so you don't have to worry about consistency.

I shoot in a cinematic style, carefully crafting and weaving together the finished product you'll be able to revisit forever.  I don't stage my shots, I capture the true feeling of the day.

What To Expect:

Keeping it natural

For weddings I try to shoot a cinematic documentary style film avoiding shots that look overly forced or staged. I try to keep it natural and get those candid shots. A cinematic camera with a cinematic picture profile and lens gives me a shallow depth of field which captures lots of natural, great looking shots.

The “must have” shots

There are certain shots that are must have’s for example the kiss. With these shots I try to do a safe angle that I know I’ll get because there are no redo’s on moments like those.  Throughout the entire day I use several cameras for multiple angles of Introductions of the bridal party, Cake Cutting, Special Dances and Toasts.  I then cut between cameras for the best shots in post production.

Creative & beautiful shots

Other than those “must have’s” I’m always trying to experiment with new angles and camera moves to make the film as beautiful as I can. I do this in the “free time” between the must have shots.  You’ll see me with a camera slider and other equipment to help me get the shots I need to create your story.

Getting emotions

I think the biggest secret though is to get the emotions of the people into the film. Weddings are such an emotional time that if you don’t capture the smiles, tears and laughs of both the couple and the guests then I think you’re missing the essence of the day.
I won’t have you pose, that’s the photographers job. That way I get real reactions and not the toned down “there’s a camera in my face” reaction.

I’m a Ninja

For me the most challenging part of the day is the ceremony. Usually you can’t really influence or change the lighting and the challenge is to get all the shots you need without being a huge distraction to the actual ceremony.  Sometimes I see wedding videographers with a huge rig, big matte box and all standing right beside the couple while the ceremony is going on and I think that’s just a bit disrespectful and not smart.  I’ll be far enough away that you wont’ notice me, but close enough to get the shots I need.

The Long & Short Of It

I capture your entire ceremony, picture taking, introduction of the bridal party, your special dances, toasts, cake cutting and all other reception events in their entirety.   (and anything else you need me to shoot) Depending on the length of the ceremony this can be 2 or more hours of footage.   In addition to all that goodness, I take all of the biggest and best parts of the day and cut them up and blend them up in to an emotional 3 to 5 minute cinematic highlight reel.  This is usually the tasty morsel of wedding bliss that couples will share on social media for all their family and friends to ogle over.
